Newcastle Falcons extends Nili Latu’s contract

Newcastle Falcons number eight and Tonga captain Nili Latu has signed a new extended contract at Kingston Park.

The 34-year-old moved to the Falcons at the start of the season and has scored six tries in his 17 appearances.

Latu was contracted for next season but he has signed a longer undisclosed deal at the Premiership club.

Falcons have also signed American forwards David Tameilau, capped four times by his country, and Nick Civetta, both 26, for next season.

Latu said it was an “absolute no-brainer” to pen a new deal.

“I have loved my first season with the Falcons,” he told the club website.

“The fans have been awesome, I love the city and we have a great squad here.”
