Missing 5 year old boy found dead.

Police have recovered the body of a 5 year old boy who was reported missing earlier this afternoon from Luckens Reserve, West Harbour in Auckland.

Police staff, including search and rescue staff converged on the area, and Eagle did a shoreline search.

Eagle staff spotted the boy on a mudflat near the West Harbour Marina and an Eagle staff member was flown in standing on the helicopter skid and recovered the boy from the mud. Ambulance attended and examined the boy. He had already died.

Police and victim support are with the boy’s distraught family who were at the scene assisting with the search.
