Inoke Vala manslaughter case: Court hearing adjourned until March 11

Mr. Inoke Vala Pepa (20)  was the subject of a violent assault in his village of Vaini, Tonga in November 2012 and allegedly died immediately after.

Three police constables were arrested and accused for Mr Vala’s death but one of them, constable Halafe’iloaki Pule’anga was acquitted as police could not find enough evidence for his involvement.

The two others are Police Officers Samisoni Taufa and Sefo Masalu were charged last year for manslaughter and they made a brief appearance at Magistrate  Court on Monday January 21.

They were bailed out to reappear in March 11.

Pepa’s case came after a Tongan Police Constable from New Zealand, Mr Kali Fungavaka was allegedly murdered while he was in the hands of the Tongan Police in 2012.
